I made myself a little mini-ramp which makes changing the oil much easier. I took a couple of 2x6's and cut 45's on the ends and screwed them together. This makes a small 4" high ramp (Image) to roll the front wheel on and get the bike a little higher which makes it easier to get a drain pan under the bike. A bike jack doesn't work too well here since it tends to get in the way when your working underneath the bike.

Once you have the bike elevated enough to get a drain pan capable of holding 5 qts of oil under it, you will need a 14mm metric wrench. The drain plug is located towards the rear of the engine as depicted in this (picture). Using the 14mm wrench loosen this bolt enough that you can turn it by hand and then slide your drain pan under it and remove the bolt completely and let the oil drain into the pan (picture).

While the oil is draining take a 5mm Allen wrench and remove the two Allen bolts holding the rear cover (right side) so you can get to the oil filler. If you have any doubts about which cover it is the look at this picture.

Once you have this cover off take a rag and clean around the oil filler hole so that you don't get grunge in your nice new oil. The oil filler hole is shown in this picture if you need a reference.

Along about now the oil should be about finished draining out the drain hole so put the bolt back in and tighten it up. Don't get overly carried away with tightening this bolt as it is screwing into an aluminum housing and stripping it out would not be much fun. Service manual says 15 lb-ft which sounds about right.
