Jetting The LC - Page 5 Adjusting the idle mixture screws is a fairly simple process if you know where to set them. This picture shows the location of the screws in case you forgot and assuming that you drilled out the caps as previously outlined. Turn these screws in until they seat, this means you want to turn them in gently until they stop. Don't force the issue here. Turning them out counting the number of turns in 1/2 turn increments, half, one, half, two, half... etc. If you use HC's jet settings you will want these to to about 2 1/2 turns each. If you have dynojet needles this picture shows an appropriate place to install them....in a plastic box that goes in the tool cabinet. They don't belong in your LC, least that is my opinion. Well that's about it. I will cover re-assembly later but it's late and I'm tired. Basically you want to reverse the removal process. Here's a quick rundown: Place carbs back on bike but not mounted in manifolds yet. Connect choke cable assembly. Connect throttle cables. Remove rag from intake manifolds. Place carbs down into manifolds, make sure they seated properly. Tighten manifold clamps, check again to make sure the carbs seated properly. Connect TPS connector. Connect fuel line. Turn on key, check for fuel leaks around bowls. Grab air box, connect front hose and PAIR connection, if any. Seat airbox down on carbs, make sure both sides seated fully down on the carbs, tighten clamps, re-check to make sure they are seated. Replace both tank sides holding with inner bolt only. Place console on bike, hookup dashboard connection under console. Put cheek covers on, align with frame/tank and replace bolt. Align console, tank halves, replace bolts & screws. Remove paper towel from fuel filler hole, put gas cap on. Look around for extra parts :) If none found, wash hands, pat yourself on back, go for a ride. |
